Natural VS Organic Food Products: Which Should You Buy?
Defined Tag: Organic Food Products. It can be a tricky situation when shopping for products such as eggs, milk, meat and fish. Grocery stores have signs and posters advertising food as natural or organic, but what is the actual difference between organic food products and other types of natural food? Natural This is a term which is associated with a wide variety of fruit and vegetable products. However, this is simply a marketing ploy to encourage you to purchase the product, as all fruits and vegetables are grown naturally. Organic This is a term used for foods that are grown without chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers. Organic food products consist of two major benefits. Firstly, the environment is being saved as the chemicals are not being exposed into nature, and secondly, such chemicals are not being put into your body, so you are remaining a healthier individual. Organic products are however, more expensive. Therefore if you are on a budget, then it is advised not to purchase organic fruits and vegetables such as oranges and bananas, as they are only peeled before consumption. Once you have discarded the peel of the fruit and vegetables, then you have discarded the chemicals. Rather, select organic food products such as apples and pears that you will eat with the peel. Of course, it is always essential that you rinse the food with water when you get home. The label ‘no hormones’ is something else which you may see in the grocery store. This is usually referred to in milk or meat products, but is in actual fact a false claim, since all animals produce hormones naturally. The label actually refers to the fact that no hormones were unnaturally given to the animal, which is sometimes undertaken to increase the production of milk. Regardless of hormones, milk and meat are actually safe for human consumption and not a violation of any animal. And finally, a label which is present on eggs and meat can indicate whether the animal was caged or penned. The quality or nutritional value of the product is not affected by this, it is simply a matter of animal rights. These organic food products may also be a little more expensive. However, it is the way to be, if you wish to make human decisions. Therefore it can be difficult when reading the label in order to select healthy foods, but learning how to do this may help you to make the best decisions for your diet.
